The reaction of the Afghan Prosecutors’ Association to the “Abolition of the General Prosecutor’s Office”
The Afghan Prosecutors’ Association has strongly condemned the abolition of the Prosecutor General’s Office by the Taliban.
In the announcement of the Prosecutors’ Association, which was made available to DW today, it is stated that the General Prosecutor’s Office in Afghanistan’s justice and judicial system is an independent and impartial body that was established in 1921.
The announcement also said that the abolition of the Office of the Attorney General of Afghanistan was changed to the “Department of Supervision and Prosecution of Decrees and Orders” by the order of the Taliban leadership, and general changes were made in its organizational structure.
Prosecutors of the previous government of Afghanistan claim that they had a difficult life under the rule of the Taliban administration, some of them immigrated to Iran and Pakistan to save their lives.
One of these prosecutors who immigrated to Pakistan because of the fear of the Taliban says: “We prosecutors are facing great economic and security problems, on the one hand, by the Taliban, and on the other hand, by the criminals who were released from prisons by the Taliban, we are under threat and persecution.”
According to reports, since the Taliban took over, more than 26 prosecutors have been killed in different parts of Afghanistan.
