Former Government Prosecutor and Sister Found Murdered under Mysterious Circumstances on Kabul-Nangarhar Highway
Local sources report that a former government prosecutor and his sister have mysteriously been poisoned and subsequently murdered on the Kabul-Nangarhar highway.
Sources confirmed on Wednesday, November 22, to the Hasht-e Subh Daily that the former prosecutor, identified as Mohammad Taqi, had been summoned to Nangarhar province through a telephone call.
According to sources, Mohammad Taqi had traveled from Kabul to Nangarhar with his sister five days ago, but they disappeared along this route.
The bodies of the two individuals were discovered by the Taliban on Monday, November 20, in the village of Daman, in the Behsood district of Nangarhar province, showing signs of torture.
Mohammad Taqi had previously worked in the eastern Kabul district attorney’s office and headed the crime investigation department of the overall former government prosecutor’s office.
While the motives and perpetrators of the murder of this former government prosecutor remain unclear, sources claim that the Taliban are responsible for the incident.
Further reports state that six years ago, another son of Mohammad Taqi, who served as the district attorney for the Nerkh district in Maidan Wardak province, was mysteriously murdered.
As of now, the Taliban have not made any statements regarding this matter.
It is worth noting that following the Taliban’s resurgence, the number of mysterious killings of military personnel and former government prosecutors in the country has increased.
According to the claims of the “Association of Afghan Prosecutors,” in the past two years, at least 37 former government prosecutors have been mysteriously murdered in various parts of the country.
